I have a meeting with an expert ad he introduced me to use these services.
The first one:
we may see the image per 10 minutes. It is useful if we need to track some changes priorly.
The resolution is 500m to 1km. It is easy to see some things bigger.
It is a satellite with 36600 km away from earth. It is a synchronized one.
The second one:
we can see the image every 5 days. It advantage is its higher resolution around 10-50m.
We can see the building or a lake change with the minor change.
Both of the satellite image service face a weak point: the cloud may cover the things on the ground. So, the weakness makes other business opportunities.
We can use UAV (unman autonomous vehicles )to take the pictures under the cloud.
Who are the target clients for these kind of services?
The government or related agriculture or land/river protection bureaus are major, the farmers are less.
UAV is a new tool and new asset to run the business.
Especially, using the cellular-networks, UAV can be accessible and controlled remotely.
UAV can take pictures and store locally. When UAV returns to the site, it can utilize the fixed broadband or mobile access on site to transmit the images or video back to head quarter.
I asked, how much for the UAV?
Better fixed Wing UAV may cost around NTD 200~600K.
Some experts can replace some component by Arduino to reduce the cost to NTD 100K.
Why Arduino? As there are less skilled designers or manufacturers in Taiwan, and they don't like to import from mainland China, some localization is necessary to reduce the cost and improve the features.
